On the Edge of Discomfort

Guruji Iyengar once said that the yoga student should always be on the end of discomfort. I find this a fitting description about when we learn best.

Often in yoga, we are doing the same asana regularly thoughtout our practice, just in subtly different ways each time. Yet, except in beginning we are not learning about the asana itself, but learning about ourselves. We should carry this into all our studies.
